"This office is simply the best. They are completely professional and respectful of their patients’ time (appointments are always punctual). I also really appreciate the nonjudgmental and conservative approach to dentistry - I have never felt upsold on any additional product or service. I feel very taken care of and have recommended multiple friends to this office. Thanks y’all! Keep it up!"- H.E. / Google / Jul 15, 2021
"I have had many fillings and cleanings here. The service is always very good. The staff are on top of insurance checks/issues. They are great at confirming/rescheduling. Dr. Canesi and his techs are very gentle and patient. The fillings are done well - no issues over the past 10 years. I would highly recommend this office for people who fear going to the dentist or have special requests. Update: I’ve now been coming here for about 15 years, and I still think this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Every provider is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and talented. They are sensitive and caring. This includes the excellent administrative staff."- K.J. / Google / Jul 07, 2021

Who Can Get Dental Bonding and Contouring?
Bonding and contouring can help if you suffer from cracks, gaps, or chips in your teeth, or if you have issues with tooth length, discoloration, and more. Dental bonding and contouring is a more affordable cosmetic procedure and can usually be done in as simple as one visit. The prep work that goes into veneers and crowns is not necessary; however, it isn’t as strong and generally does not last as long as veneers or crowns. Bonding and contouring is good for minor cosmetic flaws so if you require more extensive improvements, another cosmetic or restorative procedure may be a better option. At your consult, we will carefully listen to your needs and wants and then discuss your treatment options.
The Dental Bonding and Contouring Treatment
Dental bonding and contouring is usually performed in a single visit to our office in Boston, MA. You should not need any anesthesia, but in case you have any fear, anxiety, or a strong gag reflex, we can discuss what options are available to you. As soon as you're comfortable, we will apply the composite resin to the desired areas of your teeth. The resin will be hardened with a special light, then additional layers added as needed following the same process. After the layers of composite resin are complete, we will contour and polish the filling material and your natural enamel for an even result and natural look.
Following Dental Bonding and Contouring
After your bonding and contouring, it's important to not consume foods and beverages that are known to stain (such as tea, coffee, and tobacco) for two days. The composite resin can chip so don’t bite down on hard objects, such as hard candy, fingernails, and pens. It can also stain so brush your teeth as soon as possible after eating. Your bonded and contoured teeth will need to be cared for just like natural teeth with regular brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. Dental cleanings at Downtown Boston Dental can help to polish away stains from the bonding material as well. With proper care, dental bonding can last up to ten years. At your annual dental exam, we will look at the bonding and contouring and see if it needs to be redone to refresh your appearance.
Insurance Coverage For Bonding and Contouring
Dental bonding and contouring is considered a cosmetic treatment so it is typically not paid by dental insurance. Our office can talk to your dental insurance company to confirm if it is covered or not. At your consult, we will give you an estimate of cost and can review payment options we accept at Downtown Boston Dental.
