What Are Dental Implants?
It is important to seek professional care if you have badly compromised teeth — it is essential to the overall health and quality of your mouth. Downtown Boston Dental is incredibly pleased to offer realistic dental implants for tooth restoration. An implant uses a titanium post that functions as a manmade tooth root. A custom-made dental crown, bridge, or denture is then formed to take the place of the lost tooth (or a few teeth). If you experience tooth loss or need a tooth extraction, set up an appointment at our Boston, MA office to learn about your dental implant options.
"This office is simply the best. They are completely professional and respectful of their patients’ time (appointments are always punctual). I also really appreciate the nonjudgmental and conservative approach to dentistry - I have never felt upsold on any additional product or service. I feel very taken care of and have recommended multiple friends to this office. Thanks y’all! Keep it up!"- H.E. / Google / Jul 15, 2021
"I have had many fillings and cleanings here. The service is always very good. The staff are on top of insurance checks/issues. They are great at confirming/rescheduling. Dr. Canesi and his techs are very gentle and patient. The fillings are done well - no issues over the past 10 years. I would highly recommend this office for people who fear going to the dentist or have special requests. Update: I’ve now been coming here for about 15 years, and I still think this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Every provider is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and talented. They are sensitive and caring. This includes the excellent administrative staff."- K.J. / Google / Jul 07, 2021

Why Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants are typically used because of the dramatic range of positive advantages they provide. As tooth replacements, dental implants:
- Can enhance your self-assurance about your smile
- Function and look like natural teeth
- Enhance chewing power and durability of dental restorations
- Do not depend on neighboring teeth for stability
- Function as a durable tooth restoration option
- Work with the jaw to help maintain jawbone wellness and strength
- Encourage a well-rounded diet
Can I Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants can replace any quantity of damaged teeth. You could be considered an ideal candidate for implants if you have lost a tooth or teeth, require tooth extractions, or are not content with your current restoration. To function, dental implants require proper bone tissue, healthy gums, and a stable oral environment. For that reason, some people may need extra services before they qualify as excellent candidates. Implant-supported restorations may not be right for you if you are an expecting mother, use tobacco products, or have specific health issues. During your consultation, we will help you determine if oral implants are right for you and your goals.
Dental Implant Treatment Process
The technique for dental implants requires surgically positioning the screw and securing a realistic dental restoration (such as partial dentures, crowns, and bridges). When the area is ready for surgery, it will be numbed with anesthesia. Oral-conscious or IV sedation dentistry can also be used if you need a little extra help feeling calm. A titanium screw will be surgically positioned within your jaw at the correct spot and allowed a period of time to merge with the bone through a process known as osseointegration. When the implant area has completely healed (usually several months afterward), we will attach a custom-made crown, denture, or full-arch restoration and evaluate the alignment of the bite.
Recovery Following Implant Placement
You may experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort close to your treatment area after your implant placement. Prescribed or over-the-counter pain meds and cold compresses can help ease any post-operation discomfort. As soon as the titanium post has integrated with your jawbone and the crown, denture, or bridge is attached, it's critical that you follow a great oral hygiene routine with diligent tooth brushing and flossing practices. When you come into Downtown Boston Dental for your biannual appointments, we will use special dental instruments to clean your implants and monitor the function of your restorations.
Insurance Coverage for Implants
Depending on your dental coverage, your implant may be covered by your insurance. Someone on our team will get in touch with your carrier to help optimize your benefits prior to working out any outstanding expenses. At Downtown Boston Dental, we hope to help you get the best possible treatment for your teeth and accept a range of easy payment solutions, including dental financing plans.
